KeaGame is back in development

We will come up with a proper name for it one day...

Anyway, keagame is a nice a colourful open world puzzle game where you take on the role of a new zealand Kea (a rather cheeky and destructive alpine parrot) in a ski resort. you goal is simple, to cause as much disruption and chaos to the tourists and infrastructure there as possible, and to nick some valuable items in the process.

I'll be working with Dylan on this game in the same fashion as usual (he handles art, while i handle programming).
once this game is done, we do actually intend on selling it! for cheap as chips though of course (around $2 - $4 depending on how much content we end up making).
This will actually be GaugePunk's first commercial game, so lets see how it goes!

MetalGame - 2 days of progress

here's two days of solid progress!
at this point the idea for our game is simple, a very fast paced heavy-metal themed old school shooter. it's a wave based endless horde mode game with randomly generated guns!

the weapons range from machine guns, shotguns and all kinds of projectile throwing launchers. now, the interesting part about the random weapon system is that along with all the 'generic' gun pieces there will also be pieces the belong to unique 'legendary sets'. each part of the set would contribute very powerful stat bonuses to the weapon, and would give it a unique ability if the whole set was included.

the way you gain these pieces is either purely by chance, or by upgrading your weapons. when upgrading a weapon with a legendary piece for it's body, you will given another legendary piece of the same set. keep doing this and you will have the complete set!

an example of a legendary set might be a skeleton gun:
spine body, collar bone scope, skull barrel, foot underside and several other bones sticking out as miscellaneous pieces. create a gun with all the pieces and it will shoot explosive skulls!

so there you go, does it sound like a good system?
also all enemies explode into multiple gore chunks, which is nice.

anyway, here are some previous development screen shots:

7DFPS and heavy metal

Look like we will be working on a new game jam game! this time it's 7DFPS, a 7 day FPS jam. i'll be working with Dylan Brodie (artist) to make a good old  fashioned old school fast paced rocket jumping dual wielding bullet dodging double jumping enemy beheading gore filled balls to the wall heavy metal first person shooter! yeah!
it's gonna be fun.

Completed game: The Forgotten Crypt (horror, 1st person)

The Forgotten Crypt is a 3D first person horror game in which you goal is to delve deeper and deeper into the lost catacombs you found yourself in. you will also need to survive. corpses will stalk you in the shadows while dehydration, the ever-changing rate of time and the tunnels shifting around you will be a constant threat.

Actually it's pretty shit, but it was made in a 48 hour game jam (the asylum jam).

you can download, comment on and play it at gamejolt:

Asylum jam! skeletons!

http://www.asylumjam.com/

Looks like we will be taking part in the Asylum jam this weekend.
The jam is 48 hours long an is about creating a horror game that doesn't involve medical themes.

So what are we going to make?
A game about the Paris catacombs!
More specifically, a randomly generated first person game about skeletons and claustrophobia.

There will be more information and screen shots as they come!

If there's any videos made (which hopefully there will be) they will be posted to the Gaugepunk Youtube channel:

Free completed game: Aeroglitch

Aeroglitch was actually made months ago in the cyberpunk game jam (a 10 day jam). one of these days I will spend some more time on it.

More information, downloads and screenshots on the 'Games' page.

Well then

looks like this site finally exists, only took nearly half a year of doing absolutely nothing.
